US Open champion Daniil Medvedev wants to keep her good form going as he gears up for the Laver Cup

Latest Us Open winner Daniil Medvedev wants to keep his form going as the Russian aims to win multiple titles. He won his maiden Grand Slam defeating the current World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the finals of the US Open denying the Serb the chance to achieve Calendar Grand Slam after he had won all three Grand Slams this year.

The Russian however recently shared his lofty aspirations in an interview. He will be next seen in the Laver Cup representing Team Europe. Ahead of the event, he spoke to their official website on a lot of things ranging from his US Open win to his future goals.

Medvedev lost the 2019 US Open finals followed by the finals of the 2021 Australian Open. But he was not much bothered by the losses as he knew things would improve.

“It’s just a goal that I accomplished that not so many players manage to do,” Medvedev said. “And that’s great because I was dreaming about it since I was young. I dreamed about it even more after my first two finals. I know that nobody can take it away from me. That’s the best feeling.”

“Now I want to play better,” he added. “I want to get more titles, whether it’s Grand Slams, Masters or Laver Cup. That’s how I approach it.”

The 25-year-old took a break after his win at the Flushing Meadows but now he will return to action at the Laver Cup. Medvedev wants to be ready and hence he is playing more events in the build-up to his ATP Finals defence.

“I had a week off. We had a great time celebrating the victory,” Medvedev said about his break. “I’ve been soaking it all in. Now the next tournament is coming and I’m just looking forward to playing some great tennis.”

Medvedev has guided Russia to the ATP Cup title earlier this year so he has reasonable experience in these types of multi-nation events. However, the Russian feels that a lot more is at stake in the Laver Cup in comparison to the ATP Cup.

“It’s a bit different than playing for your country,” Medvedev said. “Here, we don’t play for the country; we play for the entire continent. I’m excited because it’s my first time. I really wanted this week to come,” he concluded.
