Spanish tennis legend, Rafael Nadal was seen attending the launch event of KIA crossover EV6 at his tennis academy in Mallorca. The Spaniard opened up on a lot of things. He highlighted how having athletes in your family can influence a young kid to take up sports.
Nadal also pointed out the importance of discipline and drive have constantly pushed him to the best of his limits.
“I was born into a family of many sports references and it is something that has always inspired me,” Nadal told Spanish outlet Marca.
“I do not know how to do anything without always giving my best. It is something that has dominated my life. And what I try is to improve every day.”
Nadal’s uncle, Miguel Angel was a football of big reputing having plied his trade for FC Barcelona for almost a decade. He made over 200 appearances for Blaugrana and also went on captain the Spanish national team. He represented La Roja in three World Cups.
Nadal’s other uncle, Toni was a former tennis player turned coach. Toni started off as a full-fledged tennis player but later he took up coaching duties at a club. He was the one who inspired Rafael Nadal to pick up a racquet and helped him develop an interest in tennis.
The vent was special for Nadal as KIA Motors supported him when he did not even have a driver’s license. It was a celebration of the 35-year-old 17 years of partnership with the Japanese automobile company.
“(They signed me) when I still didn’t even have a driver’s license and I hope it continues for many more years,” he said.
They launched a new electric car and the first thing they did was to gift Nadal a personalized edition.
If we come back to Nadal’s physical status, he is still recovering. He had a minor operation on his foot, a problem that first felt way back in 2005. However, that has now forced the 20-time Grand Slam winner to remain out of the court since August, missing important tournaments.
Nadal is recovering at a steady pace. The Spaniard was seen practising in his Mallorca academy. His main aim will be to return for the Australian Open next year.
