Naomi Osaka has emerged winner of the 2019 China Open after defeating world number one, Ashleigh Barty. The game ended 3-6 6-3 6-2, with Osaka moving up to world number three after her win. This is her second win in Asia after clinching the Pan Pacific Open in Japan in September.
It was a very interesting gameplay, as Osaka put in her very best to emerge victorious.
The game began with Osaka dominating, although not very strong, as a series of mistakes brought her under, allowing Barty to win that set with a 3 point lead.
Osaka entered the second set with a stronger determination and was not broken for once as she turned things around in her favor, causing the game to have a deciding set.
Things got tougher in the last set, and so did Osaka, as even though Barty tried to turn things around in that set, Osaka played a better game, and managed to break the Australian, eventually ending the set with a 4 point lead. This would remind keen followers about her game with US Open winner Bianca Andreescu at the quarter-finals on Friday, a game that was just as eventful.
For Osaka, the game meant a lot. She has now won a total of 10 consecutive games after losing out in the round of 16 at the US Open in early September. Also, it was Barty who knocked Osaka off the number one spot earlier this year. Without a doubt, this game was the highlight of the event, and Osaka performed just well. This would be her second WTA title that is the next rank of titles after the majors. As it stands now, Osaka and Barty are tied at 2-2 based on their meetings.
In the men’s game, Dominic Thiem is the winner of the China Open after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in a game that he dubs as one of the best in his career. Dominic has really been something to watch these past few days, and not just in this event, as he has, this year alone, defeated both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, and he just claimed his fourth title of the year.
Osaka Naomi is backed at 9.00 to win the upcoming Australian Open, while rival Andreescu Bianca Vanessa is available at 7.50
