Novak Djokovic can be the GOAT if he wins 21 Grand Slams and each Major twice, says Marion Bartoli

Recently former Wimbledon winner Marion Bartoli has shared her opinion on the whole GOAT debate. The debate basically involves tennis superstars such as Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

It has been a long time for the trio and they keep on dominating the tennis scene. Djokovic recently won the Roland Garros which was his 19th Grand Slam as a player. The Serb is closer than ever to Federer and Nadal’s 20 titles and looking at his fitness levels, he may add a few more to his tally before hanging up his boots.

The win in Roland Garros made him the first man in the Open era to win each Grand Slam twice.  With Wimbledon coming up in a few days, Djokovic will have his eyes on that as well.

Speaking with Sports Majors, Bartoli said if Djokovic overtakes Nadal and Federer’s tally then the Serb will ensure that the GOAT title only remains with him.

“I think if Novak goes to 21 after winning every single Grand Slam twice, you can absolutely crown him as the GOAT,” she said.

Tennis expert Ben Rothenberg said that if we compare results then Djokovic is already the best tennis players currently. He added, “When we are purely talking about results, I think his are the best,” he said. “He’s won all the Grand Slams twice, nobody has ever done that, he’s won every Masters series event at least twice, no one else has won them at least once, even.”

Djokovic has already won the Australian Open followed by Roland Garros and he will be aiming to win it all. Bartoli feels that Djokovic has the ability to win the Calendar Slam.

“There are so many things that can happen during a Grand Slam,” Bartoli explained. “Of course he can do it but the chance is really tiny,” Bartoli added.

“But he has what it takes inside him to do it,” she added. “It’s more about him controlling everything he can control, which is his temper, the calendar, how to get ready, maybe playing not so many matches during the hard court swing in the US, to try to save some energy for the US Open at the end of it, because I think the amount of pressure he is going to face if he is winning Wimbledon is going to be absolutely enormous.”
