It is inevitable that Novak Djokovic will break Roger Federer’s record of most weeks as a World No. 1 as he is already in the 310th week which was the previous record held by the Swiss.
It is only a matter of time for the recent Australian Open winner to cross that milestone and script history of his own.
Meanwhile, there will be a horde of changes in the ATP rankings on Monday as Rafael Nadal is set to lose his second rank to Daniil Medvedev whereas Roger Federer who is returning to action in Doha, Qatar after his knee injury will be forced out the top five.
Speaking about these top three tennis players, former tennis legend Bjorn Borg gave an interview to La Stampa where he was asked whether he has ever given some advice to players like Federer, Nadal or Djokovic.
The Swede was quick to highlight the calibre of the three legends and felt that they do not need advice from him. Borg felt that Nadal is favourite to win the French Open while he also feels that Djokovic will look to win as many titles as possible with the form he is in currently.
“Nadal in Melbourne has won once, but he could have done it two or three more times,” the Swede went on. “In Paris, he will certainly be the favourite, but let’s not forget Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Shapovalov, Zverev who can do well in all the big tournaments.
And then Djokovic: he wants to win as many Slams as possible to overtake Roger Federer and Nadal”. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both play for Team Europe, under Bjorn Borg’s captaincy, during the Laver Cup. “I am proud to be the captain of Europe,” said Borg.
“I’ve been three times already, the next will be in Boston in the fall. It’s a great experience because it allows me to spend a lot of time with champions like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, go out to dinner with them and understand what they think about sport, how they are still trying to improve themselves.”
Roger Federer’s absence at the Miami masters meant that he lost 1000 ranking points as he was the defending champion and therefore he is dropping out of the top five. However, all eyes will be on Qatar Open where the 39-year-old will return to action after a long injury layoff.
