Rafael Nadal is gearing up for the forthcoming Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, which will begin on November 13. Nadal is in a happy place and feels playing the last event of the season is always a good sign as he has had a good run.
The Spaniard will be looking to clinch his first ATP Finals, which is one big title that is missing from his impressive cabinet. Nadal was earlier knocked out of the US Open in the fourth round by Frances Tiafoe.
The Spaniard then spent quality time with his family as he welcomed his baby boy into the world. Nadal recently returned to the tour in the Rolex Paris Masters but he was knocked out in the opening round by America’s Tommy Paul in the three-set contest.
“It’s always great news to be playing the last event of the year. That says that you had a great season, so I’m excited,” Nadal said as quoted by ATP Tour.
“Italy is a very close country for me. Being in Turin for the first time in my life, it’s a new experience, so I’m very happy for that and i’m looking forward to seeing the stadium and the fans. I’ll try my best as always.”
Nadal trained under the tutelage of his team – Carlos Moya, Francisco Roig and Marc Lopez on Wednesday. The Spaniard trained with Taylor Fritz, whom he had faced in the Indian Wells final and also in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon when he struggled with an abdominal injury.
Nadal will look to be at his best and go all the way in Turin. The veteran is expected to be in the same group as Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.
The Spaniard has had a great run in the season as he won the Australian Open and backed it up with his 14th Roland Garros.
