I don’t believe Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for one second, Novak Djokovic is telling the truth – Former British No. 1 John Lloyd

Former British number one John Lloyd has stated that he doesn’t believe Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer when they say aren’t chasing the records whereas he feels Novak Djokovic is telling the truth when he admits the same.

The Big 3, as they are famously known, are regarded as three of the best-ever players to have graced the tennis court. The trio have won a total of 65 Grand Slam titles between them and Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal could add more to their tally of 23 and 22 Majors while Federer called it a day in 2022 after Laver Cup.

Djokovic has maintained that he wants to bag the most crucial records whereas Nadal and Federer have admitted that milestones don’t matter to them much, which John Lloyd disagrees with.

“One of the things I do love about Novak is that he has said he was chasing the record and it meant a lot to him. Whereas, much as I loved Rafa and Roger, they were saying that they weren’t really concerned about breaking the record and blah blah blah. And I don’t believe that for one second. I’m sorry to say that but I don’t,” he said while speaking to Tennis Channel.

“I think Novak is the one that’s telling the truth. Every player wants records. This is what they live for,” he added.

On the other hand, Djokovic recently won his 23rd Grand Slam title when he lifted Roland Garros by beating Casper Ruud in the final in straight sets at Philippe-Chatrier in Paris. The Serb admitted he is more than fortunate to win 23 Majors in his glorious title.

“I am beyond fortunate in my life to win 23 times Grand Slams. It’s an incredible incredible feeling. I have to say that I am very proud and happy to be here on this very special court,” the Serbian said in a press conference.

“It’s exactly what I wanted at the beginning of the season, to try to win as many Grand Slams as possible, and I’ve won two out of two, so things cannot go better,” he stated.

Djokovic will now take part in Wimbledon, which starts on July 3. The Serbian has won Wimbledon on seven occasions.
