Former French Open winner Iga Swiatek recently hosted a Q and A session where she answered a variety of topics. Starting from dealing with hateful comments to her favourite Taylor Swift song everything was asked and the young polish tennis star answered it all.
Swiatek has highlighted how she has stopped reading comments as she finds it demoralizing. She understands that more fans are there to support the Polish star and that keeps her going in the long run. She has taken a break from reading comments which helps her focus on the court.
“I have stopped for sometime,” Swiatek said. “Sometimes I see that I don’t fulfill the expectations of fans and reading their comments is not pleasant or motivating. I’m happy that I’ve never conditioned my confidence on what is written about me. I know that a lot of people cheer me on and support me, and positive comments prevail. Thank you.”
Despite a rigorous tennis schedule throughout the year, the youngster finds time for travel. She listed out her favourite destinations. “Lago Di Garda, Niagara Falls, New Zealand (I was there but didn’t see anything), Africa (but I don’t really know where),” Swiatek listed.
The World No. 8 is a fan of water sports and wants to learn surfing and is eager to look forward to taking sessions in Miami. “Learn to surf or any other water sport,” she said. “In fact, the only obstacle is the lack of time. Maybe in Miami, I will go to the first lesson.”
Swiatek then revealed that her favourite author is Welshman Ken Follett. She likes a couple of titles World Without End and A Column of Fire. Books help her transport her to the fictional world.
“This year I’m going to read them for the second time so then I’ll officially confirm. But I loved this one – it took me to another world for some time,” Swiatek said of her book preferences.
Lastly, the French Open champion was questioned regarding her Doubles partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands The Polish youngster revealed that her American partner has taken her to several different types of restaurants and has helped her remain calm and cheerful even when things were not going her way on tour.
