One of the best tennis stars of this new generation has to be Russian sensation Daniil Medvedev. The 24-year-old tennis star is also the current World Number 4 and a lot of fans feel that he can be the next big thing in the sport in coming years.
The Russian has been entertaining his fans with some exceptional quality and great playing style which involves a lot of powerful groundstrokes. Another quality of him which is very interesting is his calm and composed demeanour which allows him to read the game with aplomb.
It is common among tennis players that after a crucial point or a win they show a great flurry of emotions, sometimes even in defeat we have witnessed players breaking down. However, Daniil is not someone who falls into that category as he likes to keep his emotions to himself and give nothing away.
The 2019 US Open finalist recently spoke on this and said, “A lot of people like it, some of them not, but that’s how I feel it… When you win a big title or a big match against big opponents and you don’t celebrate, you have the opportunity to look around yourself and feel all the energy that’s going around. As a narrative as a tennis player, you can feel it all if you think about it.”
If you come to his performances from last season, the 24-year-old won the Rolex Paris Masters where he defeated Germany’s superstar Alexander Zverev in the finals. However, his best performance came in London where he featured in the season-ending ATP Finals and there he defeated the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem to lift the trophy and also prove his credentials.
Looking at his performances in the last few years, it is certain that the Russian likes hard courts as his results in 2019 speak for itself. He reached six finals in a row, winning two of them. To add a cherry on top he also reached the US Open finals that season. Those have been the kind of performances that put him in the top pedestal of a new generation of talented players who can make it big in the sport.
