This weekend, two of UFC’s finest light heavyweight fighters would square off in one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The fight between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira was supposed to hold in UFC 266 but had to be pushed back to be the main event of UFC 267. It is a championship fight, meaning Blachowicz, who is the current UFC Light Heavyweight champion, would have his title on the line.
Blachowicz has one win from this year, when he faced UFC Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya in March. That was his first title defence since winning the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight title last year when he faced Dominick Reyes. He has a fighting record of 28 wins from 36 fights, and he won his last five fights, going back to 2019.
Teixeira is also an accomplished fighter, having won his last fights, like his opponent. As at last year, he was number one in the UFC light heavyweight rankings and also holds the records for most submissions and finishes in the Light Heavyweight division.
Both men seem evenly matched, not just in fighting records but physically. They are both 6ft 2 inches tall and each weigh 205 lbs. But Blachowicz has the advantage of having a better reach by just two inches. But that might just be enough for him to defeat his opponent. Knowing Blachowicz, it would take more than a simple reach advantage to subdue him.
This is one of those fights that no one can honestly tell how it would end until the final bell. Whether Blachowicz would get to go home as champion or pass the title to Teixeira, we only wait to see. But the fight might just be entertaining and actually leave you to the hype it has set.
Blachowicz vs. Teixeira would fight at UFC 267, which holds on October 30, 2021, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
