Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson is a seven-time Pro Bowler and a one-time Super Bowl champion but a respect former player and analyst thinks that he gets no respect.
NFL legend Tiki Barber, who now works at CBS Sports Radio, appeared on an episode of the Scoop B Radio Podcast with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson and explained why he thinks that Russell Wilson is highly underrated.
“At the end of the day, a team that has a quarterback who interestingly never gotten a MVP vote, but is always in the MVP conversation; I mean, it’s baffling the disrespect that Russell Wilson gets. Maybe the most underrated quarterback in the NFL these days. But a team that has a Russell Wilson – who is always going to find a way to create and make plays happen, has a chance in the NFL.”
Wilson has never missed a game in his eight-year career. Last season he completed 341 of 516 passes for 31 touchdowns and five interceptions in five games. He also ran for 342 yards and three touchdowns on 75 carries. Overall, Wilson has completed 2,436 of 3,777 passes for 227 touchdowns and 68 interceptions in 128 games in his career. Wilson has 3,993 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on 720 carries.
Tiki Barber played 10 years for the Giants as their running back from 1997 to 2006 and ran for 10,449 yards and 55 touchdowns on 55 carries in 154 games.
Barber recently appeared in the “2 for 1 Drafts” podcast hosted by Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner and Austin Gayle and praised Titans running back Derrick Henry.
“If I was picking a running back, aside from Christian McCaffrey, I would take Derrick Henry,” Barber said.
“He’s big, he’s durable, obviously, but more importantly situationally he’s amazing. If you need to throw him a screen, he’ll catch a screen.
You know he’s not a prolific wide receiver, you’re not lining him as a wideout like you can McCaffrey, but if you need to throw a screen he’ll catch it and go 30-yards, or he’ll go 70-yards.”
