The UFC would be heading to London in March for UFC 286. This was announced on Wednesday. This would be the third time in 12 months that a UFC event would be held in the United Kingdom.
As of now, there are no details of the event, but it is expected that it might hold at the O2 Arena, where the two UFC events held in 2022. UFC President, Dana White, had kicked against the idea of the fight holding in a stadium for the lack of a roof due to fear of bad weather. He said: “Everyone knows how much I love our fans in the UK.
“We had two incredible shows in London in 2022, and this time we’re bringing a world title fight with the biggest and baddest card we could put together at The O2 on March 18.”
There are also no details about the fights that could take place, although White said that he expects the trilogy fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman to take place there. When asked, he said: “It’s gonna be Usman vs. Edwards. Everybody was asking me about Cardiff. It’s gonna be London. We looked into it.”
Edwards, who defeated Usman for the welterweight belt back in August, had earlier said that he would want the next fight with Usman to hold in the UK, and since the March fixture is holding in London, it would only make sense that the Edwards vs. Usman fight happens then.
Some other fighters who might join the card include Paddy Pimblett, Darren Till, Arnold Allen, and Tom Aspinall. Confirmed details of the event could emerge in the new year. As of now, what is sure is that the fight would hold at the O2 Arena on March 18 in London, United Kingdom.
