Jorge Masvidal has called for a fight with former UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, saying he wants the fight to happen before McGregor “overdoses on cocaine.” Masvidal, who has always wanted a fight with McGregor, said he is ready to break McGregor’s face, saying the fight would be easy money.
Speaking in an interview recently, Masvidal said, “Obviously, before this guy overdoses on cocaine and then the fight never happens and I don’t get to make all that easy money, I just want to break Conor’s face.
“Let’s get that paycheck, let’s get that out of the way, selling the most pay-per-views ever before this guy does harm to himself or somebody else. I just, like, boom, get that check real quick because I got kids, right? I need the money.”
McGregor has not entered the ring since he lost to Dustin Poirier last year July. That loss was his second defeat in the hands of Poirier in the space of six months. After July, McGregor announced his retirement and has not made any indications to return.
Masvidal has been dealing with issues outside the sport. He is currently involved in legal issues after bordering on aggravated assault and mischief involving Colby Covington. His pre-trial hearing is set for August 31.
He made it clear that if his fight against McGregor does not work out, he would be willing to face Gilbert Burns instead: “Also if I can’t get Conor, I’m thinking probably Gilbert. Gilbert’s a good fight for me. I like him as a fighter because he comes to fight. He comes in to either submit a guy or knock a guy out.
The ‘BMF’ title holder has said that he hopes he can be allowed to compete before the end of the year.
