Colby Covington Beats Tyron Woodley in Main Event UFC Fight Night

In the main event of Saturday’s card, Colby Covington faced Tyron Woodley at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. There were no fans in attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Covington dominated Woodley all night long and won via TKO in the fifth round, prompted by a rib injury that Woodley suffered. With this result many wonder if Woodley should retire, as he’s lost three straight fights.

“I want my belt back! Where’s my f—kin’ belt? Where you at, Usman? Where you at, Street Judas?,” Covington said after the fight.

Covington, the self-proclaimed supervillain of the UFC, was born in Clovis, California. He had a very successful wrestling career at Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon, at Iowa Central Community College, at the University of Iowa and at Oregon State University. Covington had a 34-0 record as a true freshman at Iowa Central Community College and he won the 165 lb national junior college wrestling title.

He pursued a professional MMA career in 2011 and moved to South Florida to train full-time. Covington went 5–0 before signing with the UFC in 2014. He debuted against Anying Wang on August 23, 2014 at UFC Fight Night 48 and won via TKO via in the first round. Covington is now 11-2 in the UFC, with wins against big stars like Demian Maia, Rafael dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler and Woodley.
