Vettel Gets New Chasis From Ferrari

Sebastian Vettel would get a new Chasis from Ferrari ahead of the Spanish GP after some faults had been detected in the one he used in last weekend’s British GP.

Vettel’s car suffered some malfunction in the race, causing him to finish at number 12, meanwhile, fellow teammate Charles Leclerc finished the race at 4th position. Vettel is also 13th in the Drivers’ Champion standings.

Ferrari conducted some investigation after the race and found some faults with the car’s monocoque and felt it was “logical” to change the chassis, even though it may not have had so much effect on the car’s performance.

This was revealed by Simone Resta, head of chassis engineering at Ferrari who said, “Sebastian will have a new chassis because, after the Silverstone post-race analysis, we spotted a small fault caused by a heavy impact over a kerb. It would not have had much of an effect on performance, but it was the logical decision to take.”

After Sunday’s race, a distraught Vettel admitted that the Ferrari car for the current season was lacking something, which he could not quite figure, hence the disappointment he had faced from the car on two consecutive weekends, but that he was always prepared to do the best he can each time he had to face. Things went tough for Vettel in the last race when he made a hit a kerb at the first turn, forcing him to spin to the back of the field.

Vettel also spoke on the upcoming Spanish GP, noting how the track would be different from the one at Silverstone and how temperature could impact the race. He also emphasized on the need to find a good set up that would allow them to have a good speed without wearing out their tyres. Leclerc also agreed on the importance of tyre management as a key aspect to focus on, especially when they are racing during the summer in Barcelona, something they were not used to.

The British GP held last weekend, which was also the 70th anniversary of Formula 1. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen came first, while Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valterri Bottas finished second and third respectively. Hamilton continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship standings.
