Lando Norris triumphs at the Singapore Grand Prix

    September 24, 2024

Lando Norris put on quite the performance at the Singapore Grand Prix, clinching his third career victory, beating Max Verstappen for the win.

Starting from pole position, Norris dominated the street circuit, proving his naysayers wrong by properly converting his pole start to a race victory. It was generally a good day for McLaren as their second driver, Oscar Piastri, came third to complete the podium.

Daniel Ricciardo, racing in what might be his last race of the season, picked up points for the fastest lap,  even though he finished eighteenth.

From the very beginning of the race, Norris established himself as the driver to beat. His flawless start allowed him to maintain his lead, while his McLaren team executed a perfect strategy that kept him ahead of his competitors.

Throughout the race, he appeared quite collected and in control, even as he brushed against barriers on two occasions. Despite these minor mishaps, Norris remained focused and composed, managing to fend off challenges from behind.

Max Verstappen had a solid race but struggled to match the pace set by Norris. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Pérez, faced difficulties and ultimately finished outside the points. This result was a significant boost for McLaren in their bid for the Constructors’ Championship, as they are currently sitting at the top of the standings with a 41-point lead.

Norris’ quest for the world championship title faced a hitch, despite reducing the gap between Verstappen’s lead to 52 points. Although the British driver has been performing better than Verstappen in recent races, Verstappen has a clearer path to victory, even if all he does is come second in the remaining races of the season.

So this means aside from Norris possibly winning the remaining races, 5 Grand Prix and one Sprint race, keeping Verstappen away from the podium, by all means, is what would help Norris win his first world championship title, and this is going to require team effort.
