The fans of four-time Formula One World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, are urging the driver to call it quits on his career after his well-documented humiliating error at the Italian Grand Prix. When one’s fans are calling on him to retire, I think that sums it all up. It might be time for Vettel to end his long, illustrious Formula One career finally.
Just after seven laps in, the German driver spun off the track at the Ascari Chicane. Just when everyone thought it was over, Vettel showed his resilience by re-entering the circuit. Things went from bad to worse for the 32-year-old as he impeded Lance Stroll soon after.
This incident prompted the arrival of the safety stewards to the scene, hitting Sebastian Vettel with a 10-second stop-and-go penalty.
Racing Sport’s Stroll blasted the German on his team radio, “He just came back on the circuit like an idiot.” The Canadian’s tone showed how disgusted he was of Vettel to have impeded him on the circuit, thereby halting his own race.
The stop-and-go penalty issued to Vettel meant he was required to drop to the back of the grid when he returned from the pits. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, was left with no support at the top of the whole pile as he attempted to salvage something meaningful for the Mercedes pair.
Now, fans feel it is high time Sebastian Vettel stepped away from Formula One because he has witnessed a dramatic dip in form in recent years. They feel his glory days are over, and it is time to turn to somewhere else.
An avid supporter opined on his Twitter page, “I have been a Vettel fan since before his F1 days, and I have always defended him but I genuinely can’t anymore”. Another fan even suggested Vettel should “retire and spend time with his family.”
Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc went ahead to claim the win – their second of the season in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, in front of thousands of excited fans. Second and Third place was occupied by Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, respectively.
Charles Leclerc is priced at 82.00 to win the Drivers’ Championship, while Sebastian Vettel is available at 160.00
