ESPN and the NFL will partner to air five Monday Night Football Classics weekly, starting on March 30th. They will have a replay of the epic Chiefs-Rams game from 2018.
The Rams were going to host the Chiefs at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in Week 11 of the 2018-19 season but poor field conditions forced them to have the game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The teams came to the game with a 9-1 record many expected them to collide in Super Bowl LIII. The Chiefs and Rams had two of the most high-powered offenses in the NFL, led by two very talented signal-callers, Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff.
The Chiefs and Rams went back-and-forth in the game since kickoff and it was extremely entertaining. The Rams prevailed 54-51 in the end and the 105 points they combined to put up made this the third highest-scoring game of all-time.
Mahomes and Goff threw for a combined 891 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Patrick Mahomes won the regular season MVP award that year while Jared Goff helped the Rams reach the Super Bowl against the Patriots.
The Chiefs are still the only team to score over 50 points and still lose. The Rams, on the other hand, became the 217th team to score more than 50 points and win.
The two teams scored seven touchdowns in the game. In 2012, the Chiefs had just 19 touchdowns during their disastrous 2-14 season while the Rams had only 18 touchdowns in 2011.
