The LIV Golf Invitational Series has unveiled its schedule for the 2023 season. 14 events are pinned to hold this year and would stretch across four continents. The calendar avoids scheduling an event at the same time with the men’s major, Ryder Cup, or any of the PGA elevated events.
The move to host 14 events this year is an upgrade from the 8 that were held last year. This could be a statement from the LIV Invitational that they are here to stay and would not be intimidated like last year. The decision to also skip weekends of events in other leagues may also be out of hope that LIV Golf Players might be allowed to compete in their former leagues or just out of respect for the other leagues.
Also, unlike last year, this season will also start earlier. The first event would hold at the El Camaleon, Mexico, February 24-26. A few weeks after that, the next event would hold in Arizona from March 17-19. There would be another event in the US from March 31-April 2 before moving to Adelaide, Australia, and Singapore, all in April.
We would then have more events in the US before Europe hosts its first event in Spain in June. The rest events are shared between Europe and the US before the final event of the season; the Team Championship is held in Saudi Arabia in November.
Speaking on the schedule, LIV Golf frontman Greg Norman said that the schedule was informed by feedback from fans based on last year’s schedule and said that this year’s schedule would take the league to a new era: We received tremendous feedback globally from fans throughout our beta-test year, with one resounding theme: LIV Golf’s team format, innovations, and festival-like events are delivering a one-of-a-kind golf experience.
“Last year helped lay the foundation for the future of golf at extraordinary courses that have hosted some of the world’s top competitions. LIV Golf’s schedule features fantastic venues and championship sites for our official league launch that will carry the sport into a new era.”
