Keegan Bradley was all smiles on Sunday in Japan after finishing one shot ahead to win the ZOZO Championship. The win marked his first in over four years, after winning the BMW Championship in 2018 and his overall fifth Tour victory.
Bradley ended the day at 15 under after playing and ending the final round with two-under 68. The American finished one shot ahead of Andrew Putnam and Rickie Fowler, who were both tied at 14 under.
The day started with Fowler having a one-shot lead over Putnam and two shots over Bradley. Bradley later took the lead after a birdie at the 11th but was quickly tied by Putnam at the 16th.
Determined to win, Bradley recorded another birdie at the 17th, putting him two strokes ahead after Putnam bogeyed that hole. Bradley was so clear that a par putt was enough for him to seal victory in the 18th.
Speaking after his victory, he said: “I’ve really put a lot of work in this off-season. This is what I want to do – I want to win tournaments, I want to play in Ryder Cups, and I want to be in the conversation. This is a good start.”
Away from the PGA, Brooks Koepka won his first title since 2021 after finishing one-shot clear at the play-off at the LIV Golf Invitational Jeddah. The four-time major winner beat Peter Uihlein at the third extra hole of their playoff of the season-ending event.
In the past month, Koepka has been troubled with injuries, which have affected his performance as well as his ranking. He was one of the top-ranked players to move to the LIV Invitational from the PGA Tour.
“The last two years haven’t been fun. It’s been a long road. I’m super excited,” he said after the game.
“I didn’t know if my career was over for a half-second. So it’s nice to be able to come back and be able to win.”
