Keegan Bradley has been named Team USA’s captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup, which will hold in September. Bradley’s appointment came after veteran Tiger Woods declined to take up the role of captain.
Since his first Ryder Cup appearance in 2012, Bradley has been an invaluable part of the American team, featuring in some of the most defining events over the years, and he is now set to lead the team next year.
In accepting the role, Bradley expressed his gratitude at being chosen and his eagerness to start preparing for the event: “I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup. I extend my thanks to the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust in me.
“The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025.”
The 38-year-old will be taking the reins from Zach Johnson, under whose leadership Team USA faced a challenging defeat against Team Europe. Bradley’s mission will be to reclaim the Ryder Cup on home soil and prevent consecutive losses.
The competition is more than a year away but Team USA has a lot of work to do to prevent a repeat of 2023’s loss. This is something Bradley understands as he has already made plans to survey LIV events to select some of the best players there to play for Team USA.
A lot of people, fans and players alike, had expected Woods to be announced as captain, as it seemed like he was in talks with the PGA over that. But rumours are the former world number one felt he would not be able to commit to the role and decided to pass it up, and not many players have the wealth of experience that Bradley possesses, making him a good fit.
