Barcelona manager Xavi has stated his delight in his team’s performance in the Supercopa de Espana final on Sunday when the Blaugrana beat rivals Real Madrid in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After getting past Real Betis on penalties in the semifinals, Gavi, Lewandowski, and Pedri scored before Karim Benzema’s consolation to win Xavi’s first trophy as the manager of Barcelona.
Xavi stated his happiness with winning the title and the performances of midfielders in the game. He further stated that it’s not the end of success at Camp Nou, and he’s focusing on the Copa and La Liga next.
“I am happy because of how we won. The four midfielders understood what they had to do. Everything we planned came off. We dominated Madrid for nearly the whole game. The first half was extraordinary. That makes the players believe in what we are doing. But we cannot stop here. We have a really good generation of players, and you can see the hunger they have for trophies. On Thursday, we have the Copa; next weekend LaLiga,” Xavi added.
Meanwhile, Barcelona Legend and former Brazilian international Ronaldinho have also commended Xavi and Barcelona for their 3-1 win over Real Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana on Sunday.
In a tweet on social media, the former Brazilian international congratulated the club on what he termed a beautiful result. He also extended the compliment to the club’s management and the coach Xavi, saying he’s on the right track.
Barcelona is currently top of the La Liga table, three points ahead of Real Madrid after sixteen matches played. The Catalan giants will play Cueta on Thursday before facing Getafe in La Liga next.
Meanwhile, two Copa Del Rey matches will happen on Tuesday as Real Sociedad faces Mallorca and Alaves faces Sevilla.
