Manchester United defensive midfielder Casemiro has showered praise on Lionel Messi. The Brazilian added it has always been his pleasure to play against the Argentine. Casemiro played a lot against Messi when Real Madrid took on Barcelona in La Liga.
Messi is considered as one of the best players of the current era along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar. Casemiro had the pleasure of playing with Ronaldo for Los Blancos and with Neymar for the national team.
“I didn’t get to watch Maradona or Pele play, but I enjoyed watching the three greatest players of my generation: Messi, Cristiano and Neymar,” Casemiro said in a recent chat with Placar.
“Messi made an era and he was always competitive with Barcelona and Argentina, there was no way out. Whoever loves football will love Messi. It was a pleasure to play against him. He is someone who needs no comment you can only admire,” the Brazilian added.
Meanwhile, Brazil was knocked out of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after their quarterfinal loss against Croatia in the penalty shootout. On the other hand, Argentina went on to win their third World title by beating France in the summit clash. Casemiro admitted he didn’t watch the final when Messi won his biggest title with the national team.
“No, I didn’t watch it, and frankly, after our loss, I think I didn’t watch football for a month, and I didn’t turn on the TV. It was very painful. “One of my best friends, Licha, won the tournament. I congratulate him with all respect and appreciation. If there is someone worthy of it from my friends, it is Lisandro,” Casemiro added.
Casemiro made a positive impact for Manchester United in the 2022-23 season as scored four goals and provided three assists in 28 appearances in the Premier League. Messi, on the other hand, will now play for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
