Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag refused to comment on Jadon Sancho’s return to the team in the ongoing season. The Red Devils played their first professional match after the World Cup break as they took on Burnley FC on Wednesday in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
However, Sancho was not part of the squad and the Dutchman revealed he has no idea when the Englishman will be able to return to action.
Sancho has been going through a rough patch, managing only three goals in 14 matches for the Red Devils in the ongoing season.
Sancho had a great run for Borussia Dortmund but he hasn’t been able to replicate the same success for Manchester United. Thus, Sancho couldn’t even get picked in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad of England for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, after Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Burnley in the EFL Cup, a reporter asked Erik Ten Hag about Jadon Sancho.
“Do you have any update on Sancho and when he’s coming back?,” he asked Ten Hag to which he replied, ‘No’.
“We want to bring him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be,” Ten Hag told the press (h/t the Daily Mail).
“Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood. We got a drop of quality level and sometimes you don’t know why or what is causing it. That is what we are doing now to try to get him back there. It is a combination of physical and mental.”
On the other hand, Christain Eriksen and Marcus Rashford scored for Manchester United whereas Bruno Fernandes was brilliant for the club at Old Trafford.
Manchester United will next take on Nottm Forest at their home venue of Old Trafford on 27th December.
