Frank Lampard’s reign as Everton manager has been far from successful, and his team currently sits at the bottom of the Premier League table. After being appointed as manager, Lampard was provided with a set of objectives by the board of directors to meet. However, despite significant investment in new players, Lampard and his team have failed to produce consistent results, pushing them further and further down the table.
The fans have voiced their concerns over recent performances and are disappointed with how things have gone under Frank Lampard’s management. The board of directors is also concerned with his lack of progress and has already begun discussions about potential replacements should they decide to make a change.
According to reports from The Sun, Wayne Rooney is one of the main alternatives that the board of the English team is already considering. Roberto Martínez, who left the Belgium national team, is another of the strong options to lead the Toffees.
Rooney had already received a proposal from Everton, but the former Manchester United player turned it down. However, it appears that Rooney is finally ready to return to the club that launched him to stardom and catapulted his playing career.
Everton is still hoping to save themselves from relegation, so Rooney would have the challenging task of pushing the club from the bottom of the table.
Rooney is currently with DC United, where he is preparing for the 2023 MLS season, with the primary objective of qualifying for the playoffs to later compete for the title.
