Real Madrid had teenage Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior to thank after their 1-0 victory against Valladolid on Wednesday evening.

Zinedine Zidane’s men went into their third game of the season with a win and a draw from their first two matches, having beaten Real Betis 3-2 in their previous game and a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad in their first game.

The game was balanced in the first half, with both teams playing out a goalless first half. Valladolid looked sharp in the second half and ready to cause trouble. However, Madrid held on and brought on substitute Vinicius Junior who broke the deadlock.

The Brazilian came in in the 58th minute as a replacement for Luka Jovic, who started the game up front alongside Karim Benzema. The Serbian forward has just two goals in over seventeen appearances for the champions signing from Frankfurt last season.

Vinicius scored the match-winning goal in the 65th minute to give Real Madrid the win against the side yet to win a game this season.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was also instrumental in the win as he provided some exceptional saves to keep Madrid in front.

Up next for the 2019/20 Champions of the La Liga is a trip to Levante on the 4th of October while Real Valladolid will host Eibar.

In other games, Villarreal won 3-1 against Deportivo Alaves, Roche secured crucial away 1-0 victory against Eibar, while SD Huesca played out a goalless draw with Atlético Madrid.
