Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has revealed that he has remain focused and is not bothered about recent criticism of his performances for the Reds since his return from injury.
The Dutch defender was ruled out for close to a year after he was injured against Everton last season needing surgery before his recovery.
However, Van Dijk has featured in 8 games for the Reds this season in the Premier League and he knows he is under intense scrutiny and attention since his recovery.
“I know there are a lot of eyes pointing in my direction, They were already before but will be now even more, but it’s something I’m not thinking about. I feel like I am improving. I have work to do but I don’t think about what others have to say or judge.” Van Djik said.
The player then vowed to do his best with every passing game for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool kept a clean sheet in their 5-0 win over Watford in the Premier League at the weekend and Van Dijk will likely face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Van Dijk was absent in Liverpool’s first Champions League game of the season against AC Milan which the Reds won 3-2.
However, he was in action for the 5-1 win against FC Porto in the second group game and he was involved in the pre match conference for Liverpool’s trip to the Wanda Metropolitano in Spain for the clash with Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Manchester City will face Belgian side Club Brugge on Tuesday. Besiktas will face Portugese side Sporting and Real Madrid will be in Ukraine searching for their first win in what will be their fourth game.
Ajax will host Dortmund in the Netherlands Inter Milan will welcome Sheriff Tiraspol and PSG will face RB Leipzig.
