Valencia have pleaded with the La Liga authorities to postpone its match with Real Madrid which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 2.
This is because the Valencian community has been in a state of alert due to the DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels), which since Tuesday night has caused flooding, road closures and suspension of rail transport in the local community.
As at the time of filing this report, the number of casualties by flash flooding in Spain has now risen to more than 90. Authorities report that 92 people have died in Valencia, two in Castilla La Mancha, which sits south of Madrid, and one in Malaga, leaving the total death toll to at least 95.
Given the development, local reports have confirmed that the contest between Valencia and the reigning champions scheduled for this Saturday could be shifted.
Also, UK’s The Athletic and several other sources revealed that Valencia have indeed gone ahead to request for a temporary cancellation and postponement of the La Liga encounter with Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are reportedly willing to work hand in hand with Los Che and have put themselves completely at their disposal offering any help needed in the situation.
As things stand, the league body must now decide on the shift in the date of the fixture but everything suggests that the governing body will give a nod to the suspension of the match, initially billed to take place on November 2.
This is not the only match that the disaster would affect, as all the matches in the Valencian Community this weekend could even be postponed, including the one between Levante and Malaga, which is slated for Monday, November 4.
Los Che have found themselves at the bottom of the log after recording one win, four draws and six defeats in eleven matches bringing scrutiny on Ruben Baraja.
