Preview
Spurs have become a resuscitated side since Jose Mourinho took over from former manager Mauricio Pochettino as they have been brilliant so far in the league. Their last gasp 2-3 win over Aston Villa shows how spirited they are and how tough they can be against their opponents.
Tottenham’s last game in Champions League was against German Champions Bayern Munich, where they lost 3-1 at the Allianz Arena. Then, they were trying to find their rhythm with Mourinho newly appointed. Bayern was just too much to handle for them. However, things have changed, and Spurs are back in form.
On the other hand, Leipzig has been brilliant lately, giving rivals Bayern Munich a hot chase on the Bundesliga table. They have shown form and consistency at the highest level. Their last outing in Europe ended in a 2-2 draw away at French side Lyon. They were a little bit disappointed at the end after they had previously gone 2-0 ahead only to end the game with a draw.
Leipzig hasn’t been convincing on the road in Europe as their defense tends to lose focus at times, and they had better prepare for attacking a physical side like Tottenham.
Tottenham is on a run of three wins and unbeaten in seven games so far and has won the last four fixtures at home while Leipzig has not won away from home in four matches. However, they have scored three or more goals in eleven of their previous eighteen games.
It remains to be seen how Leipzig will approach their game as they must try to get an away goals or two at all cost.
