Arsenal have shown splendid form in the first two matches of the Premier League as they have won both of them to start on a perfect note. Their new signings, Olesandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus have turned up pretty well with the latter scoring and assisting goals for fun. All in all it looks like a team that will only get better from here under the able leadership of manager Mikel Arteta. However the Gunners are looking to snap up some more players to add to the depth if they want to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.
According to famous transfer expert DeanJones, Arsenal are still in the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. The North London outfit have been linked with Tielemans for sometime now as Leicester City look to free up some funds to reinvest it on their transfers this season. The Foxes are looking at Wesley Fofana and Youri Tielemans as the potential departures to fund their transfers in the current transfer season.
It is understood that Leicester City are looking at £32 million for the 25-year-old midfielder who is in the last year of his current contract. It is a pretty reasonable sum given the quality of the Belgian. But it remains to be seen if Arsenal finally manages to snap up the deal. There is clear interest from the Gunners but Leicester City are not ready to sell him on deadline day as they want enough time to secure a replacement.
“Tielemans is definitely someone they’re still considering an offer for. Leicester definitely do not want this one going down to deadline day and losing him then, because that would leave them in trouble,” Dean Jones shared on the entire scenario.
“And the player, to be fair, hasn’t really pushed for anything at the moment, but at the same time, he hasn’t had any firm offers.”
Tielemans can be a very solid addition to this Arsenal team but there are some questions that need answering. The arrival of the Belgian midfielder might mean the end of the road for Granit Xhaka in the Arsenal midfield as they are very similar players and after signing someone on such high wages there is no scenario where they both will fit together in a system. So Xhaka departure rumours may reignite once again.
Tielemans would be a great signing for the Gunners as they look to bolster their midfield. He is young, technical and has all aspects covered where the Gunners lack a bit currently. The former AS Monaco midfielder has featured in 160 appearances for the Foxers having scored 24 goals and mustered as many assists till now.
