After the transfer saga that lasted the whole summer without no breakthrough, Tottenham has been tipped to make a fresh bid for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes in the forthcoming January transfer window.
The midfielder spent much of the summer window being linked with Spurs and Manchester United as Sporting looks to cash in their 2018/’19 superstar at a premium price. However, the Portuguese midfielder who scored 32 goals last season move to the Premier League collapsed due to enormous demands by his club.
Manchester United was another club who was on the lookout for the star Midfielder, but the pursuit came to nothing as United got frustrated. There appeared to the genuine substance behind the Spurs rumours, which was then validated by Fernandes himself when he eventually confirmed it after the transfer window shuts down.
He said; Tottenham made a lot of proposals for me, and I was impressed, but things didn’t go as planned”. Everything was right with me- or practice should have been. But the club understands that the value was below par, and I have to respect that decision.”
Tottenham is targeting a lot of departure at the end of the season or earlier, looking forward to rebuilding a side that once reached the Champions League finals last season, and they want to snap up Fernandes as the first player to reintegrate the side. According to reports, the Premier League side will be back for Fernandes whom Sporting values at £70m in January.
Spurs are looking forward to signing Fernandes as a replacement for Real Madrid target Eriksen. However, Zinedine Zidane still prefers Paul Pogba.
For Sporting CP to secure the sale of their most prized asset this time around, they will have to lower their asking price, or Tottenham will have to increase their offer. The Portuguese media have excited this whole transfer saga, and it remains to be seen if the transfer will go through this time.
FC Porto are available at 2.05 to win the Primera Liga, while Sporting CP are pegged at 15.50.
