Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was delighted after the Dubs grabbed a crucial 109-104 win against Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night. The reigning champions were without the services of their three main starters but Klay Thompson and newcomer Donte DiVincenzo were able to deliver the goods.
While Thompson took the onus in the attack, Donte DiVincenzo was at his best in the defence. Thompson continued his good form as he added 32 points and led the team to victory.
Steve Kerr feels it is a huge win as far as the standings go and also it a huge boost for the confidence of the players.
“This is a huge win not only for the standings but for the confidence of the guys,” Kerr said as quoted by AP. “That was a team win. Everybody came in there and competed and played well.”
It was a see-saw game as the pendulum swung from one side to the other in each of the quarters but Golden State Warriors had the final laugh.
Kevon Looney scored 12 points but more importantly grabbed 17 rebounds, to make an instrumental role in the win.
“I think it has a huge impact,” Looney said. “I think last year that was one of our biggest strengths, especially in the playoffs, our rebounding.”
Furthermore, Donte contributed with 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
“It’s huge for your confidence,” DiVincenzo said. “So when those big dogs come back we’re clicking in the second unit.”
Golden State Warriors will next face Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.
