Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has revealed that his players will give everything to beat Manchester City next week in the FA Cup final. The Red Devils will be chasing their second trophy of the season after winning the Carabao Cup in February.
Meanwhile, the Cityzens have already won the Premier League title for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Furthermore, Pep Guardiola’s team will take on Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final on June 10 and they will be chasing a treble (Premier League, FA Cup and UCL title) and would want to become the second English club after Manchester United did so in 1999.
On the other hand, Manchester United secured their third place in the Premier League with a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday. Fulham’s Kenny Tete scored from a header in the 19th minute of the game to put his team in front.
In fact, the visitors had a chance to double their lead but Aleksandar Mitrovic squashed the opportunity to score from the spot kick. Subsequently, Sancho scored in the 39th minute of the game to get the equalizer for the home team.
Bruno Fernandes then scored in the 55th minute of the game to help his team end their Premier League campaign on a high. United had earlier confirmed their UCL berth for the next season after their top-four finish was finalized.
“There is still one game to go so, and I am sure that these players will give everything to beat Manchester City next week. So we need it from you as well,” Ten Hag told fans at Old Trafford.
“Thank you for everything. I am sure we have a really good chance to take the cup back to Old Trafford.”
On the other hand, Fulham manager Marco Silva said his side did not deserve to lose the game.
“The game changed completely from that moment,” Silva told the BBC. “We should have reacted in a different way. It was a moment for us to show maturity and handle the game in a different way but we haven’t done that.”
