Girona striker Taty Castellanos has revealed the plethora of plaudits he’s got since scoring four goals against Real Madrid in La Liga on Tuesday.
The New York City Fc striker, who is on loan at the La Liga side, put the Los Blancos to the sword with an outstanding display. He scored a brace in each half of the game to condemn Carlo Ancelotti’s men to a damning defeat that puts them 11 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
After opening the scoring with a header in the opening twelve minutes, he doubled it midway into the first half, the Argentine will only play 72 minutes of the game, but it was enough to secure a hat trick and add one.
After such a performance against the league’s finest and biggest team, it is expected that the praises will be aplenty, but one the 24-year-old never expected was from Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.
“I went to say hello to Militao; he is a player I like a lot. We hit each other a lot; we had some clashes, but always with respect. He congratulated me, and I thanked him very much for his words. He told me that it had been a great game for me.” Taty said.
The goals took him to eleven in 29 La Liga games this season, and despite an interesting loan stint in La Liga, there’s no option to buy for Girona in the loan deal.
Girona is owned by the City Football Group, which is also the parent owner of New York City Fc in the MLS and Manchester City in the Premier League.
Despite playing for Argentina’s youth team, he’s yet to make a senior national team debut for the Le Albiceleste. Girona’s next game is away to Sevilla on May 1, while Real Madrid plays Almeria.
