Italy coach Luciano Spalletti hopes to see Edoardo Bove running on the pitch again.
There was a huge scare in the Serie A clash when the Fiorentina player suddenly collapsed in the 17th minute and was rushed to the hospital.
The midfielder is still in the hospital, and medical practitioners are performing further heart tests on him. The sudden collapse led to the cancellation of Sunday’s Serie A game against Inter.
Speaking on the situation during the Gran Galà del Calcio on Monday night, Spalletti said there would be a chance to watch the football pitch entirely and see him play again.
Similarly, the inter skipper, who was also on the pitch when the event occurred, said his team didn’t want to play afterward. Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino expressed his appreciation for such a sportsmanly act.
The Nerazzurri star stated this while speaking to reporters after Monday’s Gran Galà del Calcio, where he was named in the Serie A team of the season for 2023-24.
The 2022 World Cup winner, who described it as a terrible moment, said the important thing is that he feels well now.
“I spoke to Fiorentina’s Argentinean players and coach Palladino, who thanked us for our actions. I told him the game was over for Inter as soon as it happened because Edoardo’s health was the most important thing. I send him a big hug from here. I hope he recovers soon.”
22-year-old Bove has scored one goal and assisted four in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.
Florentina will return to action against Empoli in a Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie on Wednesday at the Stadio Franchi.
The Fiorentina-Inter clash will be rescheduled in the coming months and will resume at minute 17.
