Arsenal has emerged as a potential destination for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, but reports suggest that the Gunners are not willing to meet the Blues’ £70 million asking price.
The 23-year-old German international’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain, with Real Madrid also considering a move for him as a possible replacement for Karim Benzema. As reported by SportBild from Germany, Toni Kroos sees Havertz at Real Madrid because of the good fit he would have. Both know each other from the German team, so Kroos will know what Havertz is like.
From the German medium, they add that Kroos is one of the most influential people in the dressing room and with the most weight in the team. In addition, he would belong to Carlo Ancelotti’s closest circle, another plus for the arrival of his compatriot.
However, both Arsenal and Real Madrid have balked at Chelsea’s valuation and are not willing to pay more than £50 million for Havertz during this transfer window.
Chelsea, who paid £75 million for Havertz in 2020, is open to parting ways with the player, especially considering his contract is set to expire in 2025. It is believed that Chelsea will consider Havertz’s preference and not force him to join a club solely based on the highest fee offered. Havertz’s performances this season have been inconsistent, scoring only nine goals in all competitions and providing just one assist in 47 appearances.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Havertz comes amidst a potential squad overhaul at Chelsea, with Mason Mount reportedly agreeing on personal terms with Manchester United, Mateo Kovacic nearing a move to Manchester City, and N’Golo Kante possibly joining Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad.
