Much has been speculated about the future Serge Gnabry. The Bayern Munich player has had an excellent season with 35 appearances and 13 goals in all competitions.
His contract with the German club expires in 2023, and the club’s hierarchy is already working on offering him an extension.
However, according to Sky Sports reports, Gnabry is 50-50 over whether he’ll extend his contract.
Apparently the player is not satisfied with the salary that is being offered and he would seek to leave the German club.
Serge earns approximately £300,000-per-week but the club wants to lower salary charges and would not be offering the player a raise for staying in Munich.
Gnabry’s situation is closely followed by the big clubs in Europe, especially the Premier League.
Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United have expressed their interest in the German player.
However, Gnabry spent much of the early stage of his professional career with Arsenal where he was promoted from the U18s to the first team.
And on several occasions, the player has stated that he feels like a Gunner.
In an interview with Pro:Direct Soccer, he said he was: ‘Always a Gunner.’ And in an interview with CBS Sport, he declared Arsenal would be ‘favourite’ to sign him if he was to move on.
Rumors of Gnabry’s possible return to Arsenal have been heightened after the player posted a photo on Instagram of him posing in a Gunners retro shirt.
Gnabry was key as Bayern completed a historic treble, destroying English opposition on the way to his side’s final victory over Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon.
