Norwich City officials amongst other club officials were present on the grounds that played host to the Portuguese duo S.L. Benfica and S.C. Braga in their league clash.
According to A Bola, the Canaries scouts were present in the North of Portugal. Although the publication didn’t make known any specific player interest, there seems to be a keener interest in Braga.
The newly promoted side isn’t one to go watch a league game in Portugal. However, this sudden move has sparked some speculations in the media. This is reportedly the second time scouts of the club would watch a Braga game, and a transfer plan/move looks quite imminent.
They attended the Arsenalistas’ game against Moreirense F.C and were once again present to see the side lock horns with Portuguese giants Benfica.
The Portuguese side, however, didn’t come out unscathed. They were mauled by a 4-0 scoreline in an enthralling fashion, an indication that they were no match for Benfica.
Putting things in perspective, Braga’s winger Ricardo Horta had an exceptional performance but would always be remembered to be a part of the side that lost by a ridiculous score line to a magnificent Eagles side.
For the Eagles, winger Pizzi (Luís Miguel Afonso Fernandes) clearly stood out, taking the ball home as the eventual man of the match. He stirred his side to an incredible win, scoring his side’s first two goals. Thereafter, Bruno Vianna and Ricardo Esgaio added to the tally putting the game to rest.
Norwich City wasn’t the only club actively scouting players on the grounds. Other clubs like Real Betis, Real Valladolid, Atalanta B.C, Manchester United, Montpellier HSC, U.S. Cremonese, Piacenze Calcio 1919, FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Ascoli Calcio 1898 F.C., CD Lugo, Celta de Vigo, CD Numancia, Levante UD, Sevilla FC, Hércules CF, FC Utrecht, Benevento Calcio, Dijon FCO, and Parma Calcio 1913 were also present.
The newly promoted side has shown no signs of slowing down, continuing from their incredible form in the Championship last term. The duo Todd Cantwell and Teemu Pukki have shown outstanding performances with the latter brushing off contenders to clinch the PFA Premier League POTM prize for the month of August.
Although they recently lost to West Ham, they have shown themselves worthy of England’s top-flight.
