Scott Parker felt his Fulham side had played just the way he asked them following a comprehensive 4-0 demolition of Millwall at Craven Cottage. Ivan Cavaleiro scored twice and Aleksandar Mitrovic netted his third goal in as many games as the Cottagers bossed the Lions.
Millwall arrived by the Thames above their hosts in the table but that was turned around after a 90-minute display that saw Fulham with 85 percent of possession. Anthony Knockaert also headed home his first goal in Fulham colours on a perfect night for Parker.
The Whites squad have very much taken to the message being put across to them from Parker and his coaching staff. “The most pleasing thing is all the hard work that has gone in over the past few weeks, and seeing your team execute it against a very good Millwall side, who have started the season pretty well,” he said.
“Full credit to the players, who have been superb. The information that they’ve been given has been poured on them, but they’ve been so receptive and right behind the process. “I felt it was comfortable, in terms of the way we played. I felt we were in control of the game and that’s the way I want us to play, dominating possession.”
Cavaleiro is on loan from Wolves for the season while Knockaert has joined from Brighton and they have helped leading striker Mitrovic in forming a potent attacking unit. Parker feels the club are being vindicated for a good approach to their summer recruitment. “It’s so important,” he added.
“That’s credit to the owners and Tony Khan who identified the mistakes we made last year in terms of recruitment and ticked boxes. You know what you’re getting, you know what you’ve signed, and all the new boys have fitted in perfectly. “Our whole framework, the way we play, our structure is based around those players.”
Fulham are 1.73 to beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday at Craven Cottage. The visiting side are 4.75, while the draw is 4.50.
