Saturday 28th September 2019 will witness the battle of two northern Italian teams when US Sassuolo plays host to emerging Serie A title contenders Atalanta BC.
The matchday six fixture will be the third home tie for Sassuolo so far this season. The Neroverdi have been near-invincible at home, racking up an impressive seven goals and maximum 6 points from two matches played in front of their home fans. Sassuolo leading goal scorer and top Serie A marksman forward Domenico Berardi has been the driving force for the Modena based side. His five goals have helped propel the modest small-town side to 11th on the league table and reaffirmed their status as an up and coming Serie A outfit.
However, Domenico hasn’t been their only outlet for goals. Striker Francesco Caputo has also provided good support upfront scoring three goals so far this season for the home side. Head Coach Roberto De Zerbi will be aiming to rejuvenate his players after their away loss to Parma Calcio, and get back to winning ways as they get set to face their inform opponents Atalanta.
The Orobici have started the new season as they ended emerging as unfancied challengers in the scudetto title race. The Bergamo side underlined their title credentials with an impressive away win over AS Roma with two goals from striker Duvan Zapata and Dutch midfielder Marten de Roon in the 70th and 90th minute respectively. That was Atalanta’s 3rd straight away victory which catapulted them up to 3rd on the league table with 10 points from 5 games, behind league defending champions Juventus FC and log leaders Internazionale Club de Milano
Colombian Striker Zapata on loan from UC Sampdoria has been at the heart of a very impressive attacking line-up. His four goals during this league campaign have added to the away side’s tally of 11 goals scored this season, just two goals behind SSC Napoli who are the highest goal scoring team so far this season.
Atalanta Head Coach Gian Piero Gasperini will be going into the match against the home side fairly confident following their fantastic away form. Another good defensive performance will be expected as La Dea seek to win their fourth match of the season. The match will kick off at 7:45 PM in the Stadio Citta del Tricolore.
Atalanta are fancied at 2.08 to claim a victory, while Sassuolo are priced at 3.47 to claim a shock win.
