Bayern Munich Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has praised left-back Alphonso Davies for his excellent display and also putting in a right shift in Alaba’s position, who has moved back to the heart of Bayern’s defense.
His [Alphonso Davies] rise from the second team to the first happened earlier than imagined. In Bayern’s previous eight games, he has played most of those games at the left-back while Alaba had to move to the central defense to shore up the back ravaged with an injury. Not only has he performed excellently well at that position, but he also handled Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho in a one-on-one situation.
Salihamidzic, who signed the youngster revealed in an interview that when Alphonso Davies was signed a year ago, they saw a lot of potential in him and a lot of greatness in his talent. The fans love him, and whenever he touches the ball, you can hear a lot of jeers from the fans. They were happy to see a player who plays with so much freedom, speed, techniques, and physical robustness.
He went further to say, “ we have our ways of bringing in players in these wild transfer times, and we require quality players that will make an immediate impact. Davies [Alphonso] can be a significant player for this club. We owe the responsibility of promoting and protecting him.
Davies has been on the right track so far, and he revealed that transitioning to left-back was easy because he had already played him that similar position in Vancouver. He has also been learning a lot from Alaba as he revealed the Austrian has been teaching him a lot.
He said I am happy here, and playing for a club like Bayern feels like a dream come true. I am now playing in the big competitions like the Champions League and the Bundesliga. Bayern will be looking to make things right in their next fixture after their loss to Leverkusen.
