Ryan Gravenbarch scores his first Liverpool goal in Europa League win

Liverpool comfortably put their weekend problems behind them as they defeated Belgian visitors Royale Union in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday with a comfortable 2-0 scoreline.

Summer signing from Bayern Munich Ryan Gravenbarch was on target as he scored his first goal for the club in the first half before a late Diogo Jota strike sealed the victory.

In the build-up to the game, the Reds were in the news after their 2-1 loss to Tottenham in the Premier League last Saturday at the Tottenham Stadium, where referee officiating and VAR use was controversial, leading to the PGMOL to release audio clips after their first-half goal was erroneously ruled out for offside in addition to two red cards for Liverpool.

An independent panel into the game revealed that the referees made the wrong decision, while Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has demanded a replay even though he agrees that it is highly unlikely.

However, Thursday’s opening goal scorer, Ryan Gravenbarch, revealed that it felt good to score, and he is enjoying his time at Anfield while appreciating the support of the fans.

“It’s great. It feels super good. It was the best goal of my career so far, I think. It doesn’t matter [how it comes]. A goal is a goal. I think the minutes. When you give a player minutes, you get confident, and that’s it. They are really nice, a really good group. Also, young players, and I am just enjoying it. I like it. I like it. I think Liverpool did a great job to buy such good players, and we are in such a good mood. I am very happy that they give me such a good feeling, and I want to give them something back.” Gravenbarch said.

Liverpool will play at the weekend on Sunday in the Premier League against Brighton at Amex stadium.
