German defender Anthony Rudiger has mentioned the Real Madrid teammate he is most impressed since joining the Los Blancos on a free transfer in the summer.
The former Chelsea defender has become a constant feature in the European Champions starting 11 and has even won his first title in his short time at the club, having won the UEFA Super Cup against Europa League champions Frankfurt.
Furthermore, he’s played six La Liga games and two UEFA Champions League fixtures, with a solitary La Liga goal to show for it.
The defender is in awe of the quality of the team that has gone six La Liga games without dropping a single point this season. In an interview, the defender mentioned his national team colleague Toni Kroos.
He mentioned that he and the midfielder get along well in the national team, albeit their encounters are usually an exchange of pleasantries. However, he did state that he is surprised at the version of the player he met at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“At Real, I met another Toni Kroos. He speaks very good Spanish, is completely open, and is also very helpful. He has supported me with the language since day one and has offered to help me with other things several times out of nowhere. He’s a very relaxed guy.” Rudiger said.
Rudiger made 133 appearances for Chelsea between 2017 and 2022 before leaving Stamford Bridge for Santiago Bernabeu.
He signed a four-year deal with Real Madrid as a free agent in June and has also been called up to the German national team as they prepare for upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Hungary and England.
He is also expected to be on the plane as Germany faces Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica. Before then, the 2014 World champions will face Oman in a friendly match in November.
