AS Roma will be attempting to pick up their first win of the season when they take on US Sassuolo on matchday 3 of the Serie A 2019-2020 season.
The match will be played on Sunday 15th of September at 5 PM at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma has started their season on an innocuous note recording score draws against Genoa CFC and bitter city rivals SS Lazio 3-3 and 1-1 respectively. The Giallorossi will be hoping to turn the tide against a confident Sassuolo side that will be looking to pull an upset with an away win in Rome.
Roma Coach Paolo Fonseca comes with a reputation as a serial winner following his successful coaching spell at Ukrainian giants FC Shakhtar Donetsk. He will be looking to kick start that winning run against the Neroverdi on Sunday evening. He will be counting on Club Captain Alessandro Florenzi to steady the ship at the back alongside new loan signing defender Chris Smalling and start to keep clean sheets.
Italy international Lorenzo Pellegrini will be hoping to pull the strings in midfield against his old club Sassuolo, with whom he played for two seasons from 2015-2017. Bosnian international Striker Edin Džeko will be looking to do damage alongside new recruit Henrikh Mkhitaryan in Roma’s front line. Justin Kluivert, son of Dutch Legend and former FC Barcelona Striker Patrick Kluivert will also be seeking to score his first goal for the season.
The side from Emilia-Romagna, however, be hoping to nullify the threat of the Romans attacking talent. The Coach Roberto De Zerbi led side will be aiming to leave Rome unscathed with the maximum three points or at least a draw.
Sassuolo’s backline comprising Gian Marco Ferrari and Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa (Marlon) will be hoping to frustrate the forward line of the Roma faithful. Last week’s hat-trick hero and Serie A top scorer Domenico Berardi will be seeking to breach the Roma defense line and increase his goal tally.
Roma will be counting on their passionate and demanding fans to inspire them to victory, but Sassuolo could yet prove to be stubborn customers.
AS Roma is available at 1.72 to claim a victory, while Sassuolo are priced at 4.65. A draw game is backed at 4.25.
