AS Roma got maximum points in their Serie A clash against Frosinone at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.
This makes it Gialorossi’s second win of the season, while it’s the second defeat for their visitors.
Jose Mourinho’s men got the points in the bank as Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini made the most of Paulo Dybala’s assists.
The Giallorossi went into the clash on the back of one Serie A win in six rounds. Their last outing was a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Genoa.
Stefano Turati was called into action as he struggled to deal with an in-swinging Paulo Dybala corner, while Gianluca Mancini intercepted the Riccardo Marchizza pull-back for Marvin Cuni.
Frosinone almost took the lead on 18 minutes when Cuni ran onto a ball over after taking the ball away from both Rui Patricio and Evan Ndicka; he narrowed the angle too much as his effort hit the side-netting.
Roma opened the goal chart through Lukaku. Mancini released a through ball, which Dybala flicked on for Lukaku, who, with a change of direction, sent a defender to the ground before setting up the space to drill in from 12 yards.
Cuni again blasted his effort off target after running onto a Matias Soule ball over the top, while Lukaku’ ‘s effort stung Turati’s gloves on a Lorenzo Pellegrini counter-attack.
After Baez called Rui Patricio into action with a near post effort, Dybala dribbled down the left to pull back from the by-line as Ilario Monterisi prevented the Lukaku tap-in.
After rushing off his line, Turati used his legs to parry from Edoardo Bove at the near post while Soule flashed a ball across the six-yard box, and no one was close to tap in.
Bove again shot off target from a Dybala lay-off.
Exhausted, Pellegrini will later get the second that settled the nerves. The midfielder was about to come off, but Mourinho delayed the change until after a free kick.
He benefitted from the decision as Dybala floated the set play to the back post as the skipper volleyed in with his right boot from the tightest of angles.
