Jose Mourinho is undoubtedly one of the most polarizing figures in the world of football. Some people absolutely adore him, while others can’t stand him. But no matter where you fall on the spectrum, there’s no denying that he’s one of the greatest coaches to have ever graced the beautiful game.
With numerous titles and accolades under his belt, Jose Mourinho has been a force to be reckoned with since he first burst onto the scene as a coach. He has won league titles in four different countries and even managed to guide Portuguese side Porto to an unexpected Champions League title in 2004. His tactical prowess and ability to motivate his players are just some of the reasons why he’s been so successful over the years.
His stint with Roma has not been as striking as with other of his clubs. In the local tournament, he still hasn’t managed to lead the club to fight for the top of the table. But at least at the European level, he has managed to win cups.
On May 25, 2022, he won the UEFA Europa Conference League after beating Feyenoord Rotterdam 1-0 in the final; this has made him the only European coach to reach three different finals of the three main competitions European: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League.
With Roma qualified for the UEFA Europa League Final, Mou, and the club are on the verge of achieving a second European title in a row. But not everyone is convinced of the performance of the Portuguese coach.
Former player and club legend Antonio Cassano has harshly criticized Mou’s work through his Instagram account.
“I start from the assumption that I am very happy because I love Rome and its people.
“But it is not possible that from the beginning to the end, there will be fights and quarrels.
“They dropped to the ground and didn’t play half an action in 98 minutes.”
“The coach will say that everything is special, but in life, as Napoleon said, he is better a lucky commander than a strong one. And he is very lucky, he is impressive.
“He sucked, but it will be said that last year he won the Conference and now he has reached the final. We will continue for results.”
He went on: “I have to talk about football and analyze the game. A rather embarrassing thing. Something you can’t understand at all.
“But what will he say? I made it to the final, I won, I don’t give a s***. Well done Rome, but they did s***.” Cassano said
