Brendan Rodgers spoke to the club’s media TV on Monday evening following the Hoops’ commanding 3-0 win over Motherwell.
Despite being without captain Callum McGregor due to an unexpected abductor issue, Celtic cruised to victory with goals from Luke McCowan, Alistair Johnston, and Adam Idah.
The win marked an impressive display from a rotated squad, with Rodgers praising the performance of Celtic’s midfield trio, particularly Bernardo and McCowan, who are more accustomed to starting from the bench.
The absence of McGregor was a late blow for Rodgers, and with crucial games ahead, fans will be eager to hear the captain’s prognosis.
Rodgers, however, sought to reassure supporters, hinting that the news on McGregor’s injury is expected to be positive.
While McGregor’s availability remains in question, the manager’s optimistic tone suggests he may not be sidelined for long.
The match wasn’t without incident, as Adam Idah was subject to a dangerous challenge from Liam Gordon.
The Motherwell defender saw red for his reckless tackle, which left Idah in visible pain and now sporting a protective boot.
Rodgers acknowledged the severity of the incident, noting the forward was on the end of a bad challenge,
“Adam’s foot is in a boot for now, but we’re hopeful he’s alright.” Although Idah’s condition remains uncertain, the club will be monitoring his recovery closely.
The midfield stepped up in McGregor’s absence, and Rodgers will be hopeful for his captain’s swift return as Celtic prepare for key fixtures ahead. For now, the focus is on recovery as the team awaits news on both McGregor and Idah’s fitness.
The Celts turn their attention to Wednesday as they welcome Dundee FC to the Celtic Park as they aim to continue their impressive form in the league this campaign.
