The FIFA World Cup is still months away this year as it is happening in Qatar or else the quadrennial tournament should have started by now. But ahead of the big competition, people are already concerned about their respective national teams and who will get a spot and who will miss out. While these discussions continued, former Brazil international Roberto Carlos revealed his admiration for Newcastle United targetman Joelinton.
Carlos is in England as he is all set to participate in an exhibition game between the Rest of the World XI versus England XI. He recently spoke about Joelinton in an interview with Chronicle Live and shared the Newcastle star could soon get a callup for his unique abilities.
Carlos highlighted how the 27-year-old should keep up the good work as the fans are happy for him. He just wants Joelinton to continue the good work as he believes that the national team callup with come very soon. “Joelinton just has to keep up the good performances. He’s been putting them in and now he must make sure that he does what the coach says and make sure the fans are also happy with him. I’m sure that if he keeps up the good performances, his time in the national team will come.”
Whenever we are heading to a particular World Cup, we obviously look up to the former champion teams like Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Spain, etc. So heading into another World CUp the Selecaos are once again a contender to lift the trophy in Qatar. The current Brazilian squad has some sensational stars with the great mix of experienced campaigners and highly talented youngsters.
Brazil’s national team head coach tite has given ample opportunities to players who have been in the reckoning for this team and have done well in their domestic leagues. While he has given chance to a lot of them, Tite only has a handful of trusted players who form the backbone of this team.
Despite everything, Newcastle lanky talisman is currently not in contention to make the team who will represent Brazil in Qatar. However Joelinton being the Newcastle United Player of the Year and delivering some noteworthy performances may still get a callup from Tite. He is someone who will add that different dimension to this team with his height and physicality and can be a massive aerial threat and a lot of players can play off and around him with him holding the ball up in attack.
