Tottenham forward Richarlison will be out for weeks and is set to miss Tottenham’s first set of games after the World Cup. The Brazilian suffered a hamstring injury in Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Croatia in the quarterfinal, which they lost on penalties.
Richarlison was substituted in the final ten minutes of the regular 90 minutes and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks, pending a scan to be conducted.
The 25-year-old joined the North London club in the summer for £60M from Everton but has had to deal with injury issues. He missed six matches before the World Cup break but managed to make a return for Brazil at the World Cup, scoring three matches in four games for the South Americans.
However, his absence becomes a headache for Antonio Conte, who has had to deal with injury problems during the season, with players like Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero, and Son Heung-min dealing with fitness problems at different points in the season.
Tottenham is already fourth on the Premier League table with 29 points from fifteen matches. They have played a friendly with Scottish side Motherwell and still have one more club-friendly against Nice before the return of Premier League football on boxing day, December 26.
Antonio Conte’s side will face Brentford away from home on boxing day, and he may have to call on England striker Harry Kane but play the game without French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris whose France team reached the semi-final.
England’s quarterfinal exit means that Harry Kane and other England national team players can resume earlier than expected.
Nevertheless, Ivan Perisic may also be a doubt and would be rested after Croatia reached the semi-final, where they lost to Argentina. He scored 1 goal and made two assists in their run to the semi-final.
