Real Madrid target on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly making plans to hijack Real Madrid’s target – Trent Alexander-Arnold – whose contract with Liverpool will expire in 2025.

The 26-year old right back has been linked with several European clubsides lately but reports have it that the Los Blancos and the French giants have held talks with the England international.

Alexander-Arnold has registered 330 appearances for The Reds in all competitions since he graduated into the first team during the 2016-18 campaign.

He quickly became a regular starter for Jurgen Klopp, playing a key role in the club’s run to back-to-back Champions League finals between 2017 and 2019.

Since then, he has become an integral part of Liverpool’s setup, and his versatility in the defensive and central midfield roles have helped him churn out decent performances consistently – which has made him a global superstar.

The Paris Saint-Germain board is looking to add Arnold to the fold in order to tighten their defence as they look to have a remarkable run in the Champions League this season.

The arrival of a player of his calibre would not only bring quality but also a breath of fresh air to the team, which has been in constant evolution in recent years.

It is unconfirmed which side the Liverpool star will eventually join, considering that he gave a hint about a possible exit from the Merseyside club side this month.

Real Madrid are looking to bring forward his signing to January, due to Dani Carvajal’s injury. On the other hand, PSG wants to turn their defensive flanks into one of the most important in the world, along with Hakimi.

Meanwhile, Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ambition to win the Ballon d’Or will see him leave Liverpool to join Real Madrid.

“My first thought when I saw that was that you’re not going to win the Ballon d’Or as a right-back for Liverpool; Ballon d’Or winners normally play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. That’s where the best players in the world go.” Carragher told Sky Sports.
